USB Monitor

By

If you have seen my other hubs, you will know that I am into USB Toys. While exploring the world of USB Toys, I realised that there are actually so many different USB gadgets out there, not only in terms of USB Toys, but other interesting USB products. For this hub, I will be talking about USB Monitors. Have you ever bought a USB monitor? Are you surprised that your USB port can actually power a monitor! Well I certainly am! I did not even know that USB monitors exist!

So why get a USB computer monitor? As time passes, technology gets cheaper and cheaper. LCD monitors are not relatively cheap, and some people may be tempted to buy and use more than one monitor at one go, that means using multiple monitors from a single computer source.Dual monitors not only make doing many tasks more pleasant and easy, but it also lets an office worker do his work more efficiently.

USB Computer Monitors

Yet people who wish to work with two monitors encounter a problem. The monitors of today is connected to the personal computer through a VGA or DVI connector. This limits the PC to a 1-to-1 connection with a monitor. To get around this problem, another graphics card would have to be added to a PC to allow multi-monitor computing. This is expensive and costly, and an even worse option for notebooks or netbooks, which are the rage now. Hence, some smart person realised that the problem can be solved through the use of a display connector that is inexpensive, compact, and universal. The answer came in the form of the standard USB connector. So do you think you should invest in a USB monitor?

From what I gather, currently people make use of the second USB monitor to run their Instant Messangers, media player, or create a mini-web browser to surf the internet. Such takes away some of the display load from the main monitor, and the usage of the smaller usb monitor is not a constant one, such as for example if it is used for instant messaging, you only look at the usb monitor when you receive or want to send a message.

So far I have come across 2 types and brands of USB computer monitors. I am listing them below for your benefit. These are the MIMO USB monitors as well as the Samsung ones, which serve more as computer digital photo frames.

MIMO USB Monitors

If you are looking for a USB monitor, (not something like a photo frame) I guess you would most likely have to go for a MIMO USB monitor. I guess the technology is still not very prevalent, hence you can't really find many USB monitors. These MIMO USB monitors may be small but they pack a punch. With high and good resolution, they may be small in size but they really let you take away some display space from your main monitor. These MIMO USB monitors even come with a built-in webcam, speaker and microphone. Monitors these days are really high tech!

So far the reviews for the monitors have been pretty good. If you do not believe me, just click on the links below!

Samsung Photo Frame USB Monitors

These Samsung USB photo frames bring you not only large screens for photos but clear beautiful photos to look at. These photo frames are not only large photo screens but they come with advanced features that are convenient and easy to use for photo viewing.

The photo frame features Samsung exclusive features like UbiSync technology that allows you to use your photo frame as a USB mini-PC monitor.  The Samsung usb photo frame cum monitors also has the Starlight Touch Button Control for easy menu navigation through innovative touch sensitive light up buttons. The monitors come with different amounts of storage space or internal memory, rechargeable battery, speakers, energy saving auto on/off features, and even support for common memory cards including SD, MMC, MS, XD, and USB memory stick.

Mimo or Samsung?

Hence, if you are looking for more than just a USB monitor, I would recommend that you get the Samsung usb photo frames, because they have more than just one function, i.e. these Samsung USB monitors can act as both a photo frame and a USB monitor. Furthermore, they got advanced capabilities that allow you to connect them to storage devices so as to display your wonderful photos.

Of course if your main aim is just to have a secondary monitor to complement your existing one, I would recommend getting the Mimo USB monitors. These monitors are more geared for work purposed. Morever they got webcams, speakers and even microphones inbulit. They are quite portable and you can use them for a mobile office.

Then again you might want to consider buying both, if you are super rich and don't mind having more USB monitors! Don't forget that these USB monitors also make great affordable gift for holidays, anniversaries, good friends or colleagues or just any other special occasion. Buy a USB monitor now! (as well as more USB toys)!

Time to buy a USB Monitor?

I hope that with this post, I have aroused your interest in USB toys and have also got you to know more about USB monitors, which I believe is set to take over the monitor world in the future. Perhaps the use of the graphic cards will drop as the computer processing speed increases to take up graphics processing as well and as more monitors are plugged in through the USB. So perhaps you should get a USB monitor now! I know many people out there are looking for USB toys for men and so you can check out some of the stuff offered at my USB toy blog here, such as the USB toy pole dancer USB gadget.
