Life Coach Salary
62Perhaps you are considering a career in the life coaching industry and that is why you are here. I guess the title of my article is a pretty interesting one. Before anyone embarks on a career, the pay that comes with the career is almost always one of the most important factors that people will have to look at before they decide whether they want to take this up as a lifelong career. I do not blame them because sometimes you really need money to survive in this world. Fortunately the pay of a life coach is not that attractive or high, unless you are very experienced and thus able to command a high fee, if not the life coaching industry would be filled with people trying to make a fast buck. In this article, I will be telling you more about the certified life coach salary and its range as well as how you can make more money as a life coach.
So here you are after taking several life coaching courses and receiving some good life coach training. You have now obtained life coach certification and all ready to be a full time life coach. You spent a bomb on all these courses to get your life coaching certification but didn’t realise that the pay of a life coach isn’t that fantastic. That is right, imagine that the average annual salary of a full time coach was just over $80,000. If you are a part time coach, the pay would vary even more but studies have shown their taking to be about $25,000 a year. Do not forget that most of the life coaches are self-employed, while some are employed by large public or private institutions. You can expect to receive a more stable and mid range income if you are employed by an organisation. If you are a self-employed life coach, I do hope that you are one of those who are popular with many clients or else the pay would be peanuts.
Certified Life Coach Salary
Ever heard of pareto’s principle or the 80/20 rule? Well, the salary of those doing life coaching jobs is six figures for only 10 to at most 20 percent of coaches, with the median salary at only $30,000 to $40,000 per year. Life in this industry is tough unless you are one of the big guys, like Tony Robbins, Robert Kyosaki, Michael Gerber or maybe Stephen Covey. If you have made a name for yourself like them, you could be coaching 20 individual clients a month at $350 per client, easily making you $7000 per month. If you work a bit harder, say with 25 clients and you manage to command an even higher fee at $700 per month per client, that would mean you make more than $17,000 per month. Such takings only apply to those who are popular and have rich clients.
Life Coach Salary
So what gives? Life coach jobs do not seem to pay very well. In the first place the above income estimates are still pretty rough numbers. The takings of life coaches can also be affected by the economy as with most other jobs. In addition, you should be in this business because you want to see and help others improve, not because you plan to make lots of money fast. If you think being a life coach lets you get rich quick, then you are seriously wrong. Do not believe such a thing is someone actually tells you to be a life coach to get more money. As with any other job, riches come only to a select few, and these people are those with a passion for their work. Believe me when I say first find work that you love and very soon the money will follow.
Making Money as a Life Coach
If you are a life coach and you are currently struggling because you are self employed but unable to find any clients, my suggestion to you is to join a life coaching organization first. Using this company as your stepping stone, broaden your network as much as possible and take in as many clients as well. Treat each and every client properly and do not short change on quality just because you have quantity. Let these clients spread your good services by word of mouth. Be passionate about your job, if you feel that life coaching is not right for you, it is also time that you leave because you will never be able to do well in this job if you do not have a passion.
Starting a Life Coaching Business
Once you have more or less gained a good following, start to think if you want to start your own business. This is not easy as you would need some capital as well as staff to run administratively tasks. First start off by running a one man operation. Now you will be able to learn how to run an organization just that you are running everything on your own. As business expands, you can employ good and trusted life coaches to join you as well as admin staff to handle other matters. When your business takes off, you can even decide whether you want to write some life coaching books or provide your expertise at talks, seminars or workshops. You can even think about giving free advice. Such advice must be good of course and be able to entice people to pay for more advice. Becoming a life coach has never been easy, and it becomes harder when you intend to grow your business. By the way, do remember to only employ certified life coaches that you trust, you do not want your staff to ruin your good name.
Becoming More than A Life Coach
What you want to achieve is up to you. There are people who want to earn as much money as possible, this would mean taking on more clients and thus spending more time at work. Do remember not to neglect your family! Making money might be important but not at the expense of relationships. Balance the number of clients you have with family. Hopefully the job satisfaction you get from helping people is more beneficial to you then the income you receive from the job. If reaching out to more people is how you want things to be, then go for the teaching at conferences or writing a book route instead of one to one coaching. This is what some of the more famous life coaches have done.

Excellent hub. Life coaching is a very nice "career", but you need to be aware of the financial implications.
Once you do what you are passionate about, money will follow. You are dead right here.
Life coaching in my opinion is a very underapprecited industry.
