Whereas my earlier hub mainly just concentrated and gave an overall introduction on green coffees and green coffee beans, this hub is about how to make your own great cup of coffee - my green coffee maker hub! Basically, I will only be giving you a simple introduction on how to make your own green coffee at home, from the comfort of your own home! Once you have bought your green coffee beans online, the next step would be to do some home roasting using green coffee makers! Without roasting, a beverage made from the green coffee bean would be bitter, extremely bad tasting and undrinkable. Home roasting is the process of roasting green coffee beans on a small scale for personal consumption. Of course if you can do it on a bigger scale and your coffee tastes good perhaps that is an indication to start your own starbucks! Personal roasting of coffee has actually been practiced for centuries, just that most people might not know about this fact.
In the olden days, coffee experts have used various methods of roasting coffee beans. This excluded heating the coffee beans over hot fire burning coals, roasting in cast iron pans, or even rotating iron drums over a fire or coal bed. Until World War I, it was more common to roast coffee at home using a green coffee maker than to buy pre-roasted coffee and it was during the 20th century when commercial coffee roasting companies became common and started dominating the market did this practice stop. Then came the creation of the 3-in-1 coffee or instant coffee in 1901, and as more people got busy with work and family, time spent at home on roasting greatly decreased.
Now as mankind progresses, humans would start to demand a better quality of life. Instant coffee would no longer be able to satisfy man’s tastebuds. Hence the arrival of gourmet coffee and also the emergence of green coffee and its associated green coffee beans. In recent years, observations point to an increasing number of people who have returned to home-roasting of green coffee beans using green coffee makers to get the freshest possible coffee with flavor and aroma undiminished by storage. It is fortunate that today we have the advantages of modern technology, knowledge and devices to make coffee roasting easy and simple compared to the olden days. You can even get a coffee press to handle tough coffee!
