Disney Tron Legacy Toys

If you have ever seen a film in 1982 titled Tron, you are in for a surprise because there is going to be a sequel which will open in the theatres very soon. Ever heard of the name Tron: Legacy? It is an upcoming science fiction film produced by Walt Disney Pictures (that is why you usually see Disney Tron Legacy) which will be released on December 17, 2010 in the United States. Here I thought I would talk about the story a little. While quite coincidentally that I am also into video games, this movie has some links to video games. By the way, Tron Legacy also has a video game known as Tron Evolution and I have created a separate hub on this topic. Check out Tron Evolution here. You would be happy to know that Tron Evolution will be released on 7 Dec 2010 which is just a few days away! Anways back my Tron Legacy toys Review. Yes the story goes like this. We have Sam Flynn (played by Garrett Hedlund), who is a tech-savvy 27-year-old. His father Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges) who is the world's leading video-game developer, disappears mysteriously leading Sam to investigate.

Now one day Sam finds a weird signal being sent from the abandoned Flynn's Arcade. Knowing that it was a possible lead to find his father, Sam further checks out the signal but is trapped into this world created by his father. All this while, this was where Kevin was trapped for the past 20 years (sounds a bit like Jumanji and this may be another reason there was no sequel from 1982 till now but then that is more than 20 years). Sam meets the fearless warrior Quorra (played by Olivia Wilde) and together with his father embark on a life-or-death journey. What is more amazingly is that this world was created by Sam’s father but has changed significantly, becoming more advanced with new vehicles, weapons, and landscapes. Of course what is a movie without the bad guy and CLU 2 the main antagonist of the show who tries all means to prevent the escape of Sam and Dad. Anyways Hubpages sent me a message saying that I got too many products on this hub and thus I need more text to justify them. Guess I had no other way to do this except to write more about Tron Legacy right? Yup, I really liked Tron Legacy and the way the Tron Legacy toys and Tron Legacy action figures are listed on my hub so I will do my best to write more so that they can stay on my hub, and the hub would not be unpublished of course. Let me talk a little about the movie production and cast. First of all I wanted to highlight that the original Tron film, Steven Lisberger, has returned as a producer for Tron Legacy. The director is actually Joseph Kosinski.  You also get Jeff Bridges from the older movie coming back as Kevin Flynn and Clu (a digital copy of Kevin) and you also see Bruce Boxleitner coming back as Alan Bradley and Tron. 

As I have already explained above, there was this software engineer (and CEO of ENCOM International) called Kevin Flynn who disappeared. Twenty years later, his son, Sam, who has taken over ENCOM, is visited by his father's friend Alan Bradley asking him to investigate a mysterious page originating from Kevin's old arcade. That was when a concealed computer laboratory was discovered and Sam was transported to the Grid, a virtual world inside the computer. There he is captured and taken to the game arena and pitted against Rinzler, who was the champion of the games. Rinzler later realised that Sam was not from the Grid and brought him to Clu. Sam was nearly killed but he was rescued by Quorra. Sam was then taken to his father.

Then to cut the wrong story short, Flynn was actually creating Clu but it went haywire just like what happened in the Terminator movies where you have the robots taking over with their own artificial intelligence and stuff. Flynn was stuck in the Grid because the portal back to the real world was sealed, until Sam opened it again from the arcade. So what happens next is that they have to think of ways to defeat Clu by deleting it thus allowing them to get back to the real world. The find a Program named Zuse but he betrays Sam to Clu's guards. Flynn's identity disc, which works as a master key to The Grid, was stolen by Zuse. This was eventually reclaimed by Sam.

The trio of Sam, Quorra and Flynn, arrive at a station aboard a massive warship and subsequently take command of an aerial shuttle and escaped after defeating Rinzler. They reach the portal, and lo and behold, guess who was there to block them. It was Clu and he was determined not to let them off. Flynn tried to negotiate and talked with Clu, but to avail. In the end, Flynn sacrificed himself by pulling Clu to him. While they both merged together, a massive explosion was created destroying them both as well as Clu’s army.  Sam and Quorra used Flynn's identity disc to travel through the portal back to the real world.

Now that Sam was back in the real world, he decided to go back to working at ENCOM and also named Alan chairman of the board. Quorra and Sam seem to be a couple now as the movie ends with both of them take off in a motorcycle towards the sunset. I do hope you enjoyed this short synopsis of the movie and if you have not watched Tron Legacy, do catch it on DVD or Blu-ray too!
