Assam Tea
71Assam tea. Quite a unique name isn’t it? Most people would be wondering what this tea actually is and where it comes from. With such a strange name it must come from an exotic place. Well actually to reveal the truth, Assam is actually a place in India and it is at this place that this tea is produced. Assam is also a type of black tea. Black teas is more oxidised and hence appear darker than other types of teas such as green tea, oolong or the lesser known white varieties. If I am not wrong, most of the tea drank by Americans and the British should be the black tea. Notable black teas include Darjeeling and Ceylon. The one of my favourites is the Earl Grey which is actually a blend of black tea with bergamot oil. Anyways, I should talk more about the Assam black tea.
Buy Assam Tea
Do you know that Assam is the world's largest tea-growing region? It is second in tea production only to Southern China and the place where you can pick your own assam tea garden! Another interesting point to note is that Assam also produces smaller quantities of green and white teas. The good environmental conditions here favour the healthy growth of Assam Tea. Not only is there high precipitation but even more so during the monsoon period. The temperature and tropical climate also helps. Most of the Assam teas are grown at or near sea level.
Drink Assam Tea
The Assam black tea is known for its body, briskness, malty flavor, and strong, bright color. Then there are some blends of Assam teas which are often sold as "breakfast" teas. These are the more commonly known teas such as the English Breakfast tea, Irish Breakfast tea and the Scottish Breakfast Tea. So if you ask me, you are actually drinking lots of Assam tea everyday, and I believe that if you only drink Assam tea on its own, it is not as good as if you have it blended with other teas. So that may be the reason why most people do not drink Assam tea.
